Digital and Green Transition for Better Cities

#SCSEE25

Discover the transformative power of smart cities!

Smart cities for a better life, stronger economy, and culture that connect all citizens into a whole working for everyone. Driving innovation, integrating technology and promoting sustainable living and business.

The Smart Cities concept encompasses more than just digital platforms and green innovations; it aims to unify various sectors to enhance the quality of life for citizens globally. Local solutions addressing pollution, green energy, and sustainability have far-reaching impacts.

#SCSEE25

The Smart City SEE Conference is the leading event uniting decision- makers, including government institutions and local authorities, leaders of innovative smart cities, and companies developing smart solutions. It also brings together experts and innovators from the academic community, private and non-governmental sectors, as well as international organizations and funds. Business representatives attend to gain timely insights into the transformative power of digitization and the green economy in urban settings, enabling them to make strategic decisions.

This third edition of SCSEE, following previous editions focus on smart mobility (SCSEE23),and before that on connectivity and energy, will explore smart city utilities that significantly improve all aspects of life for citizens and urban communities, at the same time making the cities more resilient and carbon neutral. The goal of SCSEE is to enhance the concept of smart cities by improving the environment, health, economy, safety, culture, and inclusion. Through its activities, SCSEE fully aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering urban prosperity through environmental, social, and economic benefits.

Path to Decarbonization

Initiative “Smart Serbia”

Vision for Future Cities

Gradovi budućnosti će spajati prirodu sa pametnom, zelenom tehnologijom. Istaknuti govornici i panelisti na #SCSEE25 će razmeniti mišljenja I uvide kako ovi hibridni urbani prostori mogu povećati otpornost na klimatske promene i optimizovati upravljanje energijom i resursima.

Impact on Climate and Climate Change

Cities currently contribute significantly to climate change through CO2 emissions, with transportation and buildings accounting for 60% of emissions. By implementing sustainable practices seen in cities like those in Germany, the UK, and Singapore, cities in China, Japan etc., we can mitigate this impact.

Resilience in Urban Areas

With nearly 50% of the population living in urban areas, cities are forced to strive for carbon neutrality. The most relevant speakers will focus on: how to adapt, mitigate, and educate communities on smarter climate-resilient practices. No digitization or technological solution can replace human behavior and its impact on risk reduction. Citizens adaptation and education address a significant portion of the problem.

The EU emits 6% of global emissions

The EU emits 6% of global emissions and cannot act alone. Global cooperation is essential for all climate change mitigation. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement ensure cooperation across borders to tackle climate change and ensure a sustainable future.

  • 6% of global emissions are released by the EU: 4th largest emitter
  • 31% reduction in EU emissions achieved in 2022 compared to 1990 levels
  • 55% is the EU reduction target by 2030 compared to 1990 levels

Future Cities

Smart cities represent a pathway to decarbonization and transition to carbon neutrality, aiming at preventing colosal consequences of climate change while fostering healthier and happier cities and citizens. The dramatic consequences of climate change are not just words; we are already witnessing the extent of climate changes that threaten populated areas, with estimated damages in Serbia alone amounting to tens of billions of euros.

The economic risk factor associated with climate change makes the transition to smart and sustainable solutions an urgent issue. Serbia is among the regions experiencing warming beyond expectations, by about half a degree, and this summer, it exceeded 2 degrees.

Smart City SEE Conference and Exhibition is an event where transformation leaders from the most relevant fields for the 5.0 industries, sustainability and smart cities gather. Regulators, visionaries of the digital industry, academic community, startups, financial institutions, private and public sector as well as media, are convening in a cross-sector collaboration, focusing on driving innovation, integrating technology and promoting sustainable living and business.
